Privacy Policy

The short version
RefactorIQ is a local-first desktop app. Your debt inventory, estimates, costs, and reports live in a database on your own machine and are never sent to us. This website uses cookies for analytics (Google Analytics + Cloudflare Web Analytics) and no cross-site trackers. Payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy, our Merchant of Record, under their own privacy policy.
1. The RefactorIQ app collects nothing
- All workspace data (debt items, teams, settings, licenses) stays in a local SQLite database on your device.
- The app works fully offline after installation. It makes no analytics calls, has no accounts, and sends no telemetry.
- The only network connections the app ever makes are ones you trigger: the signed update check, ticket imports you connect (GitHub, Jira, Linear, GitLab), and Lemon Squeezy checkout creation plus license delivery when you pay.
2. This website
- Cookies for analytics. We use Google Analytics (G-VNKDZ584KG, sets its own cookies) alongside Cloudflare Web Analytics, which measures visits without cookies or cross-site tracking. Cloudflare does not log query strings.
- The email list. If you submit an email form on this site, we store that address so we can tell you when the desktop app ships and send anything you explicitly asked for. That address is the entire payload — no debt items, no identifiers. We do not sell it or share it with third parties for marketing.
- Your IP address. Signup requests are rate-limited by IP. We store a salted one-way hash of it to prevent abuse, never the raw address, and it is not linked to your email address in any way we can use to identify you.
- The browser demo. The free in-browser demo runs entirely on your own device. Your debt items, estimates, and settings live in your browser's local storage and are never transmitted to us — including when you export a CSV, which is generated on your machine. Clearing your browser data removes the demo workspace completely.
3. Payments — Lemon Squeezy
Checkout and billing are handled by Lemon Squeezy as Merchant of Record (cards, PayPal, Apple Pay, global VAT/sales tax, invoices, receipts). When you pay, Lemon Squeezy collects the data needed to process the order — name, email, payment details, billing country — under the Lemon Squeezy Privacy Policy. We receive only what fulfills your license: order ID, plan, buyer email, and the generated license key. We never see or store card numbers.
4. Support email
If you email support, we keep the message only as long as needed to resolve your request (license recovery, refunds, bug reports). Order IDs and license keys you send are used solely for that purpose.
5. Data retention and your rights
- Because the app stores everything locally, there is nothing on our servers to delete for app data — uninstalling the app and deleting its data folder removes it.
- For website or support data (e.g. an email-list entry or a support thread), write to the address above and we will provide or delete it. Unsubscribing from an email also removes you from the launch list.
- Payment records are retained by Lemon Squeezy per their policy and applicable tax law; refund and invoice history follows their retention schedule.
6. Children
RefactorIQ is a professional developer tool, not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
7. Changes
Material changes to this policy will be noted here with a new date. Continued use of the site or app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
